I was a human trafficking victim for twenty years, starting at just six years old.
I experienced trafficking in many forms over those two decades, and I survived for a reason—to tell you the truth about human trafficking. Now, I am sharing my story—insider information—to help you protect the vulnerable people in your community.
As a human trafficking survivor, I am an unfortunate expert on the ways traffickers think, act, and operate. As someone who was caught in cycles of victimization over and over again for two decades, I can help you understand the vulnerabilities traffickers seek to exploit for their own financial gain. And, as someone who has worked for many years in the counter-trafficking arena, I can tell you what actions are most important and effective in ending human trafficking and what actions are a waste of resources, time, and energy.
Today, I am using my lived experience, specialized skillset, and unique expertise to dismantle the evil trafficking industry. As a certified coach, I have become a trusted advisor and trainer for professionals in many fields, including law enforcement, military intelligence, special operations, medical and mental health, education, social services, and faith-based organizations.
From my experience, whether serving a nonprofit or advising a government administration, I can confidently say no one organization or agency can singlehandedly provide a solution to end trafficking. My career began as a volunteer, and I have served in many capacities, including a four-year stint in an executive leadership position with a nonprofit, private intelligence agency. Within this organization, I daily worked shoulder-to-shoulder with former intelligence professionals from the NSA, CIA, FBI, and Navy SEALS. We brought the brightest minds together in a concerted effort to equip, train, and advise law enforcement around the world to identify, arrest, and prosecute traffickers. This was rewarding work, but there is still much more to be done; multitudes of professionals need to be trained on the truth about trafficking so we can bring an end to this global crime.
That’s why I am making this information available to you. You might work in law enforcement, the military, or the medical field, or maybe you’re a mental health professional or someone who works with at-risk populations within the education system or social services. Perhaps you’re a parent, grandparent, foster care provider, or caregiver for vulnerable children. You may even work directly with trafficking survivors, or you could be a survivor yourself. Whatever your background, training, or experience, I want you to be encouraged knowing that we can work together to bring an end to the evil of trafficking that affects so many people.
Since 2009, I have been working in the counter-trafficking space, and in 2016, I began sharing my personal story as a tool to dismantle the evil trafficking industry. Today, I’m using everything I learned in the training ground of my trauma to expose the evil I suffered and teach people who can do something about it how to go after the traffickers and set people free. Over the years, I have had the privilege of engaging directly with survivors, the honor of working with law enforcement on undercover investigations, and the blessing of sitting in courtrooms to see justice being served when traffickers were put behind bars, where they belong.
